Ecologically Sustainable Tourism
"Ecotourism is ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation"
Our commitment to the planet
Our primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation.
We monitor our impact on the environment. Staff training and awareness is an everyday part of our business, as we see our crew and guests as an integral part of the success in the education of of Eco-Tourism not only in the the parts of Australia we visit but everywhere around the world.
How we achieve it
Recycling: We minimise waste, recycle and use recycled products and materials whenever possible whilst on tour, This includes cardboard, paper and cans.
Motorcycles: We keep out bikes in top conditions by rigorous maintenance after each tour to optimise fuel efficiency and minimise break downs.
Support Truck: We maintain our support vehicle to the highest standard, we use credible local mechanics to service our vehicle and we use biodiesel where available.
On Trail: we carry any rubbish with us and leave nothing behind, we minimise our impact by following designated tracks and trails and do not disturb the areas we visit.
Camp sites: We use solar power in our support truck and we carry all of our rubbish with us and recycle what we can, we limit our guests to 2 min showers and avoid single use plastics where we can.
Our commitment to local culture
We at Ellwood Motorcycle Adventures respect and reinforce Indigenous cultural heritage and the living cultures of Indigenous communities.
We are committed to protecting cultural authenticity and integrity, developing sound business practices, environmental protection and acknowledging Indigenous peoples spiritual connection to the land and water. We visit many indigenous communities all over Australia and involve our guests in welcome to country, guided tours in local museums, art galleries and sacred sites by indigenous guides . We are issued special permits to gain exclusive access to Aboriginal land such as The Lama Lama Land Trust and the Chuulangun Aboriginal Corporation and Parks QLD in Cape York where we follow strict guidelines to not disturb the areas we visit and educate our guests on local culture and leaving the environment exactly how we found it.
